The Breakers advanced into NBL Grand Final. They swept the series versus the Melbourne United. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 50-32 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. New Zealand Breakers outrebounded United 47-32 including 32 on the defensive glass. American guard Cedric Jackson (191-86, college: Cleveland St.) scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and New Zealand swingman Thomas Abercrombie (198-87, college: Washington St., agency: Priority Sports) chipped in 23 points during the contest. The former international guard Chris Goulding (192-88) responded with 23 points and American power forward Hakim Warrick (206-82, college: Syracuse) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
