Santeros used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Juana Diaz 80-75 on Thursday night. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-75. Santeros forced 19 Leones turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Chane Behanan (198-92, college: Louisville) stepped up and scored 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and American-Ivorian swingman Derrick Byars (201-84, college: Vanderbilt) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Santeros' coach Allans Colon allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side American guard Von Wafer (196-85, college: Florida St.) responded with 30 points and international point guard Carlos Rivera (187-83, college: Hofstra) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Santeros will face Piratas (#4) in Quebradillas in the next round. Leones will play at home against Brujos and hope to win that game.
