Everything went according to plan in Sopot where fifth ranked Energa Czarni (15-6) beat 14th ranked Trefl (5-18) 61-49 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 61-49. Energa Czarni held Trefl to an opponent 24.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.4 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Trefl 46-35 including a 36-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American swingman Demonte Harper (193-89, college: Morehead St.) who scored 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Senegalese center Cheikh Mbodj (208-87, college: Cincinnati) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international Marcin Stefanski (200-83) who recorded 12 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Pawel Dzierzak (186-95) added 7 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Trefl's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Energa Czarni maintains fifth place with 15-6 record. Loser Trefl keeps the fourteenth position with 18 games lost. They share it with Slask Wroclaw. Energa Czarni will meet at home AZS Polfarmex (#6) in the next round. Trefl will play against Stabill (#16) in Tarnobrzeg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
