Regular Season Round 18: Kymis - Doxa Lefkadas 79-69

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Doxa Lefkadas (9-7) was defeated on the road by second ranked Kymis (14-3) 79-69 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Kymis. Doxa Lefkadas was better in second period 28-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kymis dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Doxa Lefkadas' 26. Kymis forced 20 Doxa Lefkadas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. s Tountziarakis had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Serbian guard Igor Milosevic (193-86, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 12 points and 9 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Andreas Kanonidis (198-91) with 18 points and 9 rebounds and forward Savas Chrysopoulos (200-89) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Five Kymis and four Doxa Lefkadas players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kymis have a solid three-game winning streak. They used an opportunity after Faros lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Doxa Lefkadas at the other side keeps the fifth place with seven games lost. Kymis will face Doukas (#10) in Athens in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Doxa Lefkadas will play at home against Panerythraikos (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
