Regular Season Round 21: Hapoel Eilat - Maccabi T-A 67-86

The game in Eilat was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Maccabi T-A (15-6) played at the court of 8th ranked Hapoel Eilat (9-12). Maccabi T-A did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 86-67. Hapoel Eilat was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 55-35 second half run of Maccabi T-A. They outrebounded Hapoel Eilat 39-25 including 29 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Maccabi T-A brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. International point guard Gal Mekel (190-88, college: Wichita St., agency: Beo Basket) stepped up and scored 16 points and 9 assists for the winners and American-Nigerian power forward Trevor Mbakwe (207-89, college: Minnesota, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds. Four Maccabi T-A players scored in double figures. Maccabi T-A's coach Zan Tabak allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American guard DeAndre Kane (193-89, college: Iowa St., agency: Beo Basket) with 23 points and Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (210-87, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Three Eye Sports) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Maccabi T-A used an opportunity after Hapoel J-M lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Hapoel Eilat at the other side keeps the eighth place with 12 games lost. Maccabi T-A's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tel-Aviv Hapoel Tel-Aviv.
