We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Panevezys where 6th ranked Lietkabelis (11-15) was defeated by seventh ranked Siauliai (11-15) 88-75. Lietkabelis was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 53-39 second half run of Siauliai. They made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Lietkabelis helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international swingman Arturas Jomantas (200-85) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 5 rebounds. Egyptian forward Assem Marei (206-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Five Siauliai players scored in double figures. Siauliai moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Lietkabelis. Lietkabelis lost their third game in a row. Siauliai's next round opponent will be higher ranked Juventus (#5) in Utena and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
