Date: February 28, 2016
We should mention about the upset which took place in Humacao, where Indios (0-1) were outleveled in a road game by Caciques (1-1) 101-73 on Sunday. The game without a history. Caciques led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Indios' 36. They outrebounded Indios 41-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. Caciques looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Indios' players. Naturalized Panamanian Nate Butler Lind (198-89, college: TCU) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international center Angel Garcia (209-88, college: Memphis) chipped in 18 points during the contest. Four Caciques players scored in double figures. Alexander Galindo (200-85, college: FIU) responded with 22 points and 6 rebounds and the former international point guard Filiberto Rivera (190-82, college: UTEP) scored 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Caciques will meet at home Manati (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Indios will play against Leones (#11) in Juana Diaz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
