Regular Season Round 20: Zarautz - La Fecha 57-58

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both thirteenth ranked La Fecha and 14th ranked Zarautz had identical 3-12 record. But Zarautz was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Arroyo Encomienda 58-57 on Sunday night. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 19-9. But Zarautz won second period 14-8. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Janes Casimiro (190-92) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and forward Manuel Sanchez (192-89) who added 17 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Forward Xabier Osa (196-86) responded with 14 points and Estanislao Andres (185-90) scored 11 points. Zarautz's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. La Fecha (4-12) moved-up to eleventh place in Group A-A, which they share with Mondragon. Zarautz lost sixth consecutive game. Zarautz at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourteenth position with 13 games lost. La Fecha will face higher ranked Estela (#3) in Santander in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Zarautz will play on the road against Cantbasket (#6) in Santander and hope to win that game.
