Regular Season Round 2: Arecibo - San German 68-80

An interesting game took place in Arecibo, where Capitanes (0-2) lost at home to Atleticos (1-1) 68-80. The game was mostly controlled by Atleticos. Capitanes was better in fourth quarter 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Panamanian forward Tony Bishop (201-89, college: Texas St., agency: Inception Sports) notched a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international center Matt Lopez (213-92, college: Rider) supported him with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Even 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists by the former international guard Guillermo Diaz (188-85, college: Miami, FL) did not help to save the game for Capitanes. American center Chris Johnson (210-85, college: LSU) added 7 points and 13 rebounds for the hosts. Five Atleticos and four Capitanes players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Atleticos' next round opponent will be Santeros (#4) in Coamo. Capitanes will play on the road against Brujos (#2) in Guayama and hope to win that game.
