Regular Season Round 2: Manati - Quebradillas 71-94

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Manati (1-1) at the home court. Hosts were rolled over by Piratas (3-0) 94-71. The game was mostly controlled by Piratas. Manati was better in second period 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Piratas players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American forward Brian Conklin (198-89, college: St.Louis) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 8 rebounds. The other American import guard Gerald Fitch (191-82, college: Kentucky) contributed with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. Panamanian-American swingman Gary Forbes (201-85, college: Virginia) replied with 13 points and 7 rebounds and American power forward Arnett Moultrie (208-90, college: Mississippi St., agency: David Lee services) added 11 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Manati. Piratas will play against Vaqueros (#7) in Bayamon in the next round where they are favorite. Manati will play on the road against Caciques (#5) in Humacao and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
