Regular Season Round 30: KTP Basket - Kataja Basket 92-85

Top ranked Joensuun Kataja (23-7) recorded its seventh loss in Kotka on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by tenth ranked KTP-Basket (10-20) 92-85. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Joensuun Kataja. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-13. But Joensuun Kataja won third quarter 31-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when KTP-Basket won last quarter 28-22. They made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Devonne Giles (203-83, college: Texas Tech) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Canadian Sefton Barrett (196-83, college: Cent.Michigan) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Trevis Simpson (193-91, college: NC-Greensboro, agency: Three Eye Sports) who recorded 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and his fellow American import Lamayn Wilson (203-80, college: Troy) added 16 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Five Joensuun Kataja players scored in double figures. KTP-Basket moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Lapua. Defending champion Joensuun Kataja still keeps top position with seven games lost. KTP-Basket is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (#10) on the road in the next round. Joensuun Kataja will play against Salon Vilpas (#7) and is hoping to win this game.
