Regular Season Round 22: Polpharma - Torun 74-73

The most exciting game of round 22 in the TBL took place in Starogard. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Twarde Pierniki (18-6) to thirteenth ranked Polpharma (7-16) 74-73 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Twarde Pierniki. The hosts trailed by 10 points after three quarters before their 29-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Twarde Pierniki helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American swingman Michael Hicks (193-83, college: Central Mo., agency: Court Side) fired 26 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The other American import center Damien Kinloch (203-80, college: Tenn Tech) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. The former international swingman Michal Michalak (197-93) produced 23 points and American point guard Danny Gibson (177-84, college: S.Indiana) added 15 points and 8 assists respectively for lost side. Four Twarde Pierniki players scored in double figures. Polpharma maintains thirteenth position with 7-16 record. Twarde Pierniki at the other side dropped to the fourth place with six games lost. Polpharma are looking forward to face higher ranked Anwil (#3) in Wloclawek in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Twarde Pierniki will play on the road against Stabill in Tarnobrzeg and is hoping to win this game.
