Second Stage Round 9: Brahe Basket - Trelleborg 80-98

Not a big story in a game in Huskvarna where 9th ranked Brahe Basket (1-16) was defeated by second ranked Trelleborg (12-6) 98-80 on Saturday. Brahe Basket was trailing by 13 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 30-9 charge of Trelleborg, which allowed them to win the game. Trelleborg shot 27 for 40 from the free-throw line, while Brahe Basket only scored eight points from the stripe. Trelleborg forced 19 Brahe Basket turnovers. Brahe Basket was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was guard Papy Ndiaye (187-94) who scored 24 points and 5 rebounds. Kosovan power forward Valon Gashi (202-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Jordanian forward Ali Mamoun (185-83) who recorded 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Mark Andersson added 17 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. They have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Trelleborg maintains second place in BEHS forts with 12-6 record having just nine point less than leader Solna Branten. Brahe Basket lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 16 games lost. Trelleborg will face Huddinge (#6) on the road in the next round. Brahe Basket will play against the league's leader Koping and hope to win that game.
