Seventh-ranked Telsiai (14-21) gave a tough game to second ranked Vytis (28-7) in Sakiai on Saturday. Vytis managed to secure only six-point victory 95-89. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime then Telsiai managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was Vytis who were better in overtime eventually winning that period 17-11. They made 26-of-33 free shots (78.8 percent) during the game. Vytis forced 21 Telsiai turnovers. Telsiai was plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Karolis Brusokas (200-91) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Ignas Vaitkus (183-98) chipped in 24 points, 6 assists and 4 steals (made all of his eight free throws) during the contest. At the losing side power forward Mindaugas Norkus (200-85) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and forward Ovidijus Kaminskas (195-91) scored 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Vytis and five Telsiai players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Vytis have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 28-7 record having just thirteen point less than leader Suduva-Mantinga. Telsiai lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh place with 21 games lost. Vytis will face Mazeikiai (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Telsiai will play against Palanga (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
