There was an upset when higher ranked La Rochelle (11-14) was crushed on the road by seventeenth ranked Vitre (10-15) 81-52 on Saturday. The game without a history. Vitre led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Vitre outrebounded La Rochelle 41-28 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. American Wilbert Brown (199-84, college: Niagara) stepped up and scored 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Montenegrin point guard Slobodan Pejovic (192-86) chipped in 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Vitre players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward William Walker (200-87, college: Bethel, IN, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 24 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Aziz Dia (202-90) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. La Rochelle's coach Gregory Thielin gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Vitre have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Bordeaux. La Rochelle lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Vitre will face higher ranked Aix-Maurienne (#3) in Aix-les-Bains in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
