Quarter-Finals Round 1: Pioneros - Abejas 102-87

Pioneros overwhelmed Abejas to take 1-0 lead in the series. Abejas trailed 45-42 at halftime, rallying from a 31-13 deficit at the end of first quarter to trim the gap. Pioneros dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Abejas' 44. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Pioneros made 8 blocks. It was a very good performance for the former international Hector Hernandez (205-85, college: Fresno St., agency: Pro Sports) who helped to win the game recording 20 points. American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American forward Travis Franklin (200-88, college: Colorado St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) added 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Abejas. Four Abejas players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
