Regular Season Round 8: Manati - Santurce 76-83

Very expected game when 10th ranked Manati (2-6) was defeated at home by third ranked Cangrejeros (5-2) 83-76 on Friday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Cangrejeros looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Damion James (201-87, college: Texas, agency: Priority Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. International point guard Javi Gonzalez (185-89, college: N.Carolina St.) chipped in 21 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Cangrejeros players scored in double figures. Point guard Omar Alvarado (180-83) produced 24 points and 8 assists and American forward Landon Milbourne (201-87, college: Maryland) added 20 points respectively for the hosts. Cangrejeros moved-up to second place, which they share with Arecibo and Guayama. Manati lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with six games lost. Cangrejeros will face Santeros (#7) in Coamo in the next round where they are favorite. Manati will play on the road against Brujos (#4) in Guayama and hope to win that game.
