The game in Agua Prieta was also quite interesting. Fuerza Guinda Nogales (1-1) played at the court of Vaqueros (1-1). Vaqueros managed to secure a 7-point victory 116-109 on Saturday. Vaqueros shot 65.6 percent from the field and made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 66.7 percentage. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was point guard Ashton Gibbs (188-90, college: Pittsburgh, agency: Interperformances) who scored 30 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Forward Dominique Keller (205-88, college: Illinois) chipped in 25 points and 6 rebounds. Keller is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Jumaine Jones (202-79, college: Georgia) who recorded 30 points and 8 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and power forward Willie Readus (201-92, college: Delta St.) added 30 points respectively. Five Vaqueros and four Fuerza Guinda Nogales players scored in double figures. Vaqueros will meet Ostioneros de Guaymas (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Fuerza Guinda Nogales will play against Tijuana Zonkeys (#9) and hope to win that game.
