Quarter-Finals Round 3: Abejas - Pioneros 86-107

Pioneros topped Abejas on the road to complete the sweep of the series. Pioneros had a 30-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for international guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez (183-86, college: W.Kentucky, agency: Pro Sports) who led the winners and scored 29 points and 9 assists. The former international Hector Hernandez (205-85, college: Fresno St., agency: Pro Sports) accounted for 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Four Pioneros players scored in double figures. The former international forward Michael Lizarraga (200-89, college: CS Northridge) came up with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and naturalized American forward James Sandoval (196-87, college: Sonoma St.) added 24 points respectively for Abejas in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
