Regular Season Round 9: Bayamon - Mayaguez 87-92

Date: March 13, 2016
The game in Bayamon was also worth to mention about. Seventh ranked Indios (4-4) played at the court of 8th ranked Vaqueros (3-6). Indios managed to secure a 5-point victory 92-87. Vaqueros were ahead by 5 points at the halftime before a 48-38 second half run of Indios. They made 28-of-34 charity shots (82.4 percent) during the game, while Vaqueros only scored six points from the stripe. 29 personal fouls committed by Vaqueros helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Alexander Galindo (200-85, college: FIU) who scored 25 points and 7 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). International forward Kevin Young (203-90, college: Kansas, agency: Paris Global Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Five Indios players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international swingman Alex Franklin (198-88, college: Siena) who recorded 20 points and 9 rebounds and Dominican swingman Francisco Garcia (201-81, college: Louisville) added 22 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Indios moved-up to fifth place. Vaqueros at the other side dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. Indios' next round opponent will be league's leader Capitanes in Arecibo and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vaqueros will play at home against Brujos (#4) and hope to win that game.
