Regular Season Round 9: Guayama - Manati 84-85

Bottom-ranked Manati managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of three consecutive losses on Sunday night. This time they edged fourth-ranked Brujos in Guayama 85-84. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Brujos. Brujos were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Manati looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international power forward Ricardo Sanchez (212-87, agency: Beo Basket) nailed 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and guard Alexis Colon (191) accounted for 11 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international swingman Alejandro Carmona (194-83) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Malcolm Lee (196-90, college: UCLA) added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Brujos in the defeat. Four Brujos players scored in double figures. Brujos' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Manati (3-6) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Bayamon and Ponce. Loser Brujos keep the fourth position with three games lost. Manati will meet bottom-ranked Leones (#11) in the next round. Brujos will play against Leones (#11) and hope to secure a win.
