Regular Season Round 10: Arecibo - Quebradillas 95-98

Important game to mention about took place in Arecibo. Eighth ranked Piratas (5-6) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging higher ranked Capitanes (7-3) 98-95 on Tuesday evening. Piratas made 23-of-30 charity shots (76.7 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Capitanes were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Brian Conklin (198-89, college: St.Louis) notched 29 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import guard Gerald Fitch (191-82, college: Kentucky) supported him with 14 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists. Piratas' coach Raymond Dalmau allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by the former international guard Guillermo Diaz (188-85, college: Miami, FL) did not help to save the game for Capitanes. International forward Renaldo Balkman (203-84, college: S.Carolina) added 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for lost side. Five Piratas and four Capitanes players scored in double figures. Piratas moved-up to fifth place. Capitanes at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. Piratas will play against Santeros (#6) in Coamo in the next round. Capitanes will have a break next round.
