Regular Season Round 23: TAKE Tolosa - Mondragon 61-67

There was an upset when higher ranked TAKE Tolosa (8-10) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Mondragon (7-12) 67-61 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 36-26 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for power forward Benat Barberena (204-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Guard Iker Barbero (192-92) helped adding 8 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Goar Arteche (186-77) responded with 18 points and forward Jon Azaldegi (190-91) scored 12 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mondragon have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to tenth place in Group A-A. Loser TAKE Tolosa dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. Mondragon will face higher ranked Valladolid Univ. (#9) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
