Regular Season Round 27: Pertevniyal - Balikesir 88-86

A very close game took place in Istanbul between Pertevniyal and Balikesir. Thirteenth ranked Pertevniyal (12-15) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Balikesir (15-12). Pertevniyal managed to escape with a 2-point win 88-86 on Saturday evening. Balikesir was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Pertevniyal made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was swingman Okben Ulubay (200-97) who scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Ogulcan Baykan (198-96) chipped in 20 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Alfrie Kelley (183-85, college: S.Carolina) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 assists and guard Ahmet Tuncer (193-93, agency: 1x1 Sports) added 21 points and 6 assists respectively. Five Pertevniyal and four Balikesir players scored in double figures. Balikesir's coach Mete Babaoglu tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Pertevniyal moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Balikesir lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 12 games lost. Pertevniyal will meet Final Genclik (#15) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Balikesir will play against Meliksah (#9) and hope to secure a win.
