Regular Season Round 9: Guaymas - Guasave 79-78

The most exciting game of round 9 in the CIBACOPA took place in Guaymas. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Frayles de Guasave (5-3) to third ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (6-2) 79-78 on Wednesday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Ostioneros de Guaymas looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for guard Justin Bocot (193-88, college: S.Illinois) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists. Power forward Mike Dabney (203-88, college: Bowling Green) contributed with 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Dabney is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Kevin Rogers (206-86, college: Baylor) answered with 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and guard Jordan Williams (198, college: N.Texas) added 14 points and 4 assists in the effort for Frayles de Guasave. Frayles de Guasave's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ostioneros de Guaymas have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Hermosillo. Frayles de Guasave at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost. Ostioneros de Guaymas is looking forward to face league's leader Rayos de Hermosillo on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Frayles de Guasave will play against Vaqueros in Agua Prieta and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
