Regular Season Round 14: Quebradillas - Humacao 78-64

Round 14 in BSN means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Quebradillas where host Piratas (7-9) beat league's leader Caciques (9-4) 78-64 on Wednesday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Piratas. Caciques managed to win third quarter 14-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Piratas made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American point guard John Lucas III (180-82, college: Oklahoma St.) who scored 24 points and 7 assists. The other American import forward Brian Conklin (198-89, college: St.Louis) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Cliff Duran (191-89) produced 21 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and American forward Brandon Costner (206-87, college: N.Carolina St.) added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Caciques' coach rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Piratas moved-up to sixth place. Caciques at the other side still keep top position with four games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Arecibo who have the same record. Caciques will play next round against strong Santeros trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Piratas will try to continue on its current victory against first ranked Capitanes in Arecibo.
