Fuerza Regia bounced back from two starting losses and overcame Pioneros in overtime to narrow the deficit. The hosts trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 23-16 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 12-point victory in overtime. Fuerza Regia dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Pioneros' 36 and made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Fuerza Regia looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 21 passes made by Pioneros' players. It was a good game for American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). Panamanian power forward Jaime Lloreda (204-80, college: LSU) contributed with 26 points and 8 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Fuerza Regia players scored in double figures. American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) answered with 23 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and the former international Hector Hernandez (205-85, college: Fresno St., agency: Pro Sports) added 11 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Pioneros. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.
