Regular Season Round 14: Guayama - San German 78-87

Date: March 24, 2016
Bottom-ranked Atleticos managed to get a sixth victory, breaking the two-game losing streak on Thursday night. This time they won against fifth-ranked Brujos in Guayama 87-78. Brujos trailed by 13 points at halftime and as many as 18 after three quarters before a 36-27 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 78-87 at the end of the game. Atleticos made 28-of-34 free shots (82.4 percent) during the game. Atleticos outrebounded Brujos 43-29 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Atleticos made 10 blocks. Panamanian forward Tony Bishop (201-89, college: Texas St., agency: Inception Sports) had a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Egyptian-American center Omar Samhan (211-88, college: St.Mary's, CA) chipped in 18 points, 9 rebounds and 7 blocks during the contest. American forward Malcolm Lee (196-90, college: UCLA) responded with 26 points and 6 rebounds and Canadian-Irish power forward Levon Kendall (209-84, college: Pittsburgh) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Four Brujos players scored in double figures. Brujos' coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Atleticos (6-9) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Ponce. Loser Brujos keep the fifth position with six games lost. Atleticos will meet at home Indios (#10) in the next round. Brujos will play against Cangrejeros (#4) in Santurce and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
