There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Piratas (8-10) beat 5th ranked Brujos (8-8) in Guayama 69-60. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Brujos won third quarter 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Brian Conklin (198-89, college: St.Louis) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Carmelo Lee (201-77, college: Long Beach St., agency: Paris Global Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. American-Dominican Antonio Pena (204-86, college: Villanova) produced 8 points and 9 rebounds and the former international swingman Alejandro Carmona (194-83) added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Brujos' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Piratas moved-up to sixth place. Brujos at the other side keep the fifth position with eight games lost. Piratas' next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Leones (#11) in Juana Diaz where they are favorite. Brujos will play at home against Santeros (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
