Regular Season Round 29: Caen - Challans 75-83

There was an upset when higher ranked Caen (16-13) was defeated at home by fifteenth ranked Vendee Challans (13-16) 83-75 on Tuesday. The guests trailed by 8 points at the halftime before their 51-35 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Vendee Challans dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Caen's 26 and made 22-of-23 free shots (95.7 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was naturalized Cameroonian guard Ralph Temgoua (194-87, college: St.Lawrence) who scored 20 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). American forward Anthony Hill (204-88, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) chipped in 15 points. Four Vendee Challans players scored in double figures. Fabien Ateba (192-91) produced 26 points and 6 rebounds and American Bill Clark (200-88, college: Duquesne) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Vendee Challans moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Bordeaux. Newly promoted Caen keeps the seventh position with 13 games lost. Vendee Challans will face Berck (#17) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
