LPB top team - Benfica (14-2) had no problems winning another game on Tuesday. This time they beat sixth ranked Barcelos (4-12) 85-69. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Benfica's pressure prevailed and they won that period 21-12 extending their advantage to 16 points. They made 21-of-22 free shots (95.5 percent) during the game, while Barcelos only scored five points from the stripe. American Jeremiah Wilson (205-88, college: Tarleton St.) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international point guard Nuno Oliveira (186-89) supported him with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four Benfica players scored in double figures. Even 22 points and 5 assists by American guard Andrew Ferry (190-90, college: Cornell) did not help to save the game for Barcelos. Serbian swingman Igor Djukovic (202-87, agency: Dynamics Global Management) added 14 points and 6 rebounds. Defending champion maintains first position with 14-2 record. Barcelos lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 12 games lost. Benfica will meet Ovarense (#5) on the road in the next round. Barcelos will play against Galitos-Tley and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
