Regular Season Round 43: BK Opava - NH Ostrava 67-60

There was no surprise when 7th ranked NH Ostrava (17-24) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked BK Opava (25-15) 67-60. It looked good early as NH Ostrava took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then BK Opava had a 19-10 second period charge getting the lead and NH Ostrava was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 60-67. It was an exceptional evening for guard Filip Zbranek (195-89) who led the winners and scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Power forward Martin Gniadek (202-90) accounted for 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. BK Opava's coach Petr Czudek used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Adam Ciz (190-91) came up with 22 points and 4 assists and American forward Garret Kerr (193, college: Univ.Sciences) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively for NH Ostrava in the defeat. BK Opava moved-up to third place, which they share with BK Pardubice. NH Ostrava at the other side keeps the seventh position with 24 games lost. BK Opava's next round opponent will be BK Usti nad Labem (#9) on the road which should be theoretically an easy game. NH Ostrava will play against USK Praha and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
