The game in Guayama was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Santeros (10-7) played at the court of 5th ranked Brujos (8-9). Santeros managed to secure a 7-point victory 89-82 on Thursday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 26-18. But Brujos won second period 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Santeros looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Chane Behanan (198-92, college: Louisville) who scored 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (190-92) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Santeros players scored in double figures. Canadian-Irish power forward Levon Kendall (209-84, college: Pittsburgh) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and American-Dominican Antonio Pena (204-86, college: Villanova) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Santeros maintains fourth place with 10-7 record. Loser Brujos dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. Santeros will meet at home Manati (#5) in the next round. Brujos will play against Vaqueros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
