Kouvot toppled Salon Vilpas in the playoffs opener. Salon Vilpas was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Kouvot dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Salon Vilpas' 24. They outrebounded Salon Vilpas 41-25 including a 35-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Thomas Gipson (201-93, college: Kansas St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. His fellow American import guard D.J. Richardson (190-91, college: Illinois, agency: Inception Sports) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Four Kouvot players scored in double figures. Kouvot's coach Jyri Lehtonen allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Juho Nenonen (202-87) answered with 9 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Doug Wiggins (185-88, college: Mountain St.) added 11 points in the effort for Salon Vilpas.
