Regular Season Round 25: Le Portel - Souffel 73-58

Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Souffelweyersheim (10-15) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Le Portel (15-10) 73-58 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Le Portel. Souffelweyersheim was better in third quarter 22-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Le Portel won last quarter 21-8. They made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Souffelweyersheim was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Jakim Donaldson (204-83, college: Edinboro) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and power forward Mickael Var (205-90) chipped in 13 points. At the losing side swingman Gaylor Curier (197-92) responded with 16 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Matthew Gibson (195-84) scored 15 points. Souffelweyersheim's coach rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Le Portel moved-up to fourth place. Souffelweyersheim lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 15 games lost. Le Portel will face bottom-ranked Orchesien BC (#18) in Orchies in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Souffelweyersheim will play at home against Saint-Quentin (#11) and hope to win that game.
