Regular Season Round 25: Brindisi - Empoli 47-63

Very expected game when 14th ranked Brindisi (4-21) lost at home to seventh ranked Empoli (12-13) 63-47 on Saturday. Empoli dominated on the defensive end, holding Brindisi to just 4 points in third quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 38 of its points in the paint compared to Brindisi's 12. Empoli forced 20 Brindisi turnovers and outrebounded them 41-26 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for Czech center Klara Pochobradska (186-89) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Nadia Calamai (172-86) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The former international swingman Valentina Siccardi (182-82) answered with 16 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Luigia Boccadamo (175-94) added 7 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Brindisi. Brindisi's coach Gaetano Ermito tested eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Newly promoted Empoli maintains seventh place in A2 with 12-13 record. Brindisi at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourteenth position with 21 games lost. Empoli will face Civitanova (#9) in Civitanova Marche in the next round. Brindisi will play on the road against Viterbo (#11) and hope to win that game.
