Regular Season Round 24: Andratx - Estudiantes 66-61

There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Andratx (4-20) defeated at home higher ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (12-12) 66-61 on Saturday. ASEFA Estudiantes was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 8-point lead after three quarters before a 24-11 charge of Andratx, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 19 ASEFA Estudiantes turnovers. Strangely ASEFA Estudiantes outrebounded Andratx 51-27 including a 23-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. ASEFA Estudiantes was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Belen Mejias (180-91) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Esther Morillo (169-79) who added 14 points during the contest. Four Andratx players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Clara Rodriguez (184-96) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds and center Mariana Gonzalez (187-88) scored 8 points and 16 rebounds. ASEFA Estudiantes' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Andratx maintains fourteenth position in Group B with 4-20 record. ASEFA Estudiantes lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 12 games lost. Andratx will face higher ranked Segle XXI (#11) in Barcelona in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
