Important game to mention about took place in Challans. Twelfth ranked Vendee Challans (14-16) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 17th ranked Berck (11-19) 88-86 on Saturday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 23-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Vendee Challans made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. It was a good game for naturalized Mali point guard Ibrahim Saounera (180-87) who led his team to a victory with 28 points and 5 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Serbian Djordje Petrovic (202-84) contributed with 21 points for the winners. American power forward Ron Anderson (205-89, college: S.Florida) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and American-Jamaican forward Justin Rutty (200-89, college: Quinnipiac) added 20 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Berck. Four Berck players scored in double figures. Vendee Challans maintains twelfth position with 14-16 record, which they share with Bordeaux. Newly promoted Berck keeps the seventeenth place with 19 games lost. Vendee Challans will face higher ranked Angers BC (#10) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Berck will play against SAP Vaucluse (#7) and hope to win that game.
