Regular Season Round 19: Arecibo - Manati 76-75

Sixth-ranked Manati (9-9) was very close to win a game against first ranked Capitanes (13-6) in Arecibo. Capitanes managed to secure only one-point victory 76-75. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Manati. Manati was ahead by 10 points at the halftime before a 27-12 third quarter run of Capitanes. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was a great evening for international forward Renaldo Balkman (203-84, college: S.Carolina) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 5 rebounds. The former international guard Guillermo Diaz (188-85, college: Miami, FL) helped adding 16 points and 11 assists. At the losing side Irish-Australian center Andrew James Ogilvy (211-88, college: Vanderbilt) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and point guard Omar Alvarado (180-83) scored 14 points and 5 assists. Capitanes maintains first place with 13-6 record. Manati at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Capitanes will play against league's second-placed Caciques in Humacao in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Manati will have a break next round.
