Regular Season Round 21: Manati - Ponce 78-70

Date: April 7, 2016
Rather expected game when 10th ranked Leones (7-13) were defeated on the road by seventh ranked Manati (10-9) 78-70 on Thursday. The game without a history. Manati led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The former international power forward Ricardo Sanchez (212-87, agency: Beo Basket) stepped up and scored 15 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners and Irish-Australian center Andrew James Ogilvy (211-88, college: Vanderbilt) chipped in 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Manati players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international swingman Angel Daniel Vassallo (198-86, college: Virginia Tech) with 24 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Devin Ebanks (206-89, college: W.Virginia, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Leones' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Manati maintains seventh place with 10-9 record. Defending champion Leones dropped to the ninth position with 13 games lost. They share it with San German and Mayaguez. Manati will meet bottom-ranked Atleticos (#11) in the next round. Leones will play against the league's leader Caciques where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
