Regular Season Round 21: Quebradillas - Arecibo 96-88

Round 21 in BSN means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Quebradillas where host Piratas (11-13) beat league's leader Capitanes (13-8) 96-88 on Friday evening. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 96-88. Piratas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Brian Conklin (198-89, college: St.Louis) who scored 22 points and 5 assists. American-Italian guard Kevin Lisch (188-86, college: St.Louis) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was international forward Renaldo Balkman (203-84, college: S.Carolina) who recorded 16 points and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Guillermo Diaz (188-85, college: Miami, FL) added 19 points respectively. Five Piratas and four Capitanes players scored in double figures. Capitanes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Piratas moved-up to sixth place. Capitanes at the other side dropped to the second position with eight games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Humacao. Capitanes will play next round against Indios trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Piratas will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Santeros in Coamo.
