Regular Season Round 31: Angers BC - Challans 64-78

There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Angers BC (15-16) was defeated at home by twelfth ranked Vendee Challans (15-16) 78-64 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Vendee Challans. Angers BC was better in third quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Angers BC 39-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for DR Congolese-Belgian forward Ruphin Kayembe (200-92) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Naturalized Mali point guard Ibrahim Saounera (180-87) helped adding 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Vendee Challans players scored in double figures. Vendee Challans' coach Freddy Masse used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side guard Romain Hillotte (195-91) responded with 28 points and American forward Cedrick Williams (206-92, college: NC-Wilmington) scored 8 points and 11 rebounds. Vendee Challans have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with defeated Angers BC. Vendee Challans will face Vitre (#13) at home in the next round.
