Regular Season Round 25: Cherno More - Yambol 95-88

No shocking result in a game in Varna where sixth ranked Cherno More (12-13) defeated 8th ranked Yambol (7-18) 95-88. It looked good early as Yambol took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Cherno More had a 31-19 second period charge getting the lead and Yambol was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 88-95. Cherno More players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. It was a very good performance for naturalized Portuguese swingman Venelin Hristov (198-95) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 6 assists (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). The former international forward Simeon Iliev (204-89, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Cherno More players scored in double figures. Power forward Denis Agre (205-88, college: Pepperdine) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field) and Serbian point guard Milijan Bocka (185-82) added 28 points and 5 assists in the effort for Yambol. Cherno More moved-up to fifth place. Yambol at the other side keeps the eighth position with 18 games lost. Cherno More will play against league's leader Lukoil Acad. in Sofia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Yambol will play on the road against Spartak Pleven (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
