Important game to mention about took place in Coamo. Tenth ranked Leones (8-14) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging higher ranked Santeros (11-11) 89-87 on Saturday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Santeros won third quarter 26-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Leones looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a very good performance for American forward Devin Ebanks (206-89, college: W.Virginia, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording 23 points. The former international swingman Angel Daniel Vassallo (198-86, college: Virginia Tech) contributed with 20 points and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Chane Behanan (198-92, college: Louisville) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds and Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (190-92) added 18 points in the effort for Santeros. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion maintains tenth position with 8-14 record. Santeros lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with 11 games lost. Leones will face higher ranked Piratas (#5) in Quebradillas in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
