There was a minor upset when 3rd placed Frankston Blues (1-1) were defeated on the road by fifth ranked Kilsyth Cobras (2-1) 84-72 on Saturday. Kilsyth Cobras outrebounded Frankston Blues 43-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. Guard Kyle Adnam (186-93) stepped up and scored 28 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and guard Joel Naburgs (193-90, college: Stetson) chipped in 24 points and 11 rebounds. Naturalized American swingman Bennie Lewis (203-87, college: Benedict, agency: Warren Sports International) responded with 24 points and 9 rebounds and guard Thomas Wilson (191-97) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Kilsyth Cobras moved-up to third place in League. Loser Frankston Blues dropped to the fifth position with one game lost. Kilsyth Cobras will face Spectres (#4) in East Burwood in the next round. Frankston Blues will play on the road against Sabres in Cheltenham and hope to win that game.
