Regular Season Round 27: Sevilla - Gipuzkoa 86-80
Date: April 10, 2016
No shocking result in a game when thirteenth ranked Sevilla (11-16) beat at home bottom-ranked Gipuzkoa (5-22) 86-80 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 47-38 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Sevilla made 22-of-23 free shots (95.7 percent) during the game, while Gipuzkoa only scored six points from the stripe. It was a good game for American swingman Scott Bamforth (188-89, college: Weber St., agency: Beo Basket) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 4 assists. Swedish point guard Ludvig Hakanson (190-96) contributed with 16 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners. Guard Jordi Grimau (196-83) answered with 15 points and 4 assists and American forward Marcus Landry (201-85, college: Wisconsin) added 15 points in the effort for Gipuzkoa. Four Sevilla and five Gipuzkoa players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Sevilla moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with FIATC Joventut and Andorra. Loser Gipuzkoa stay dead last with 22 lost games. Sevilla will face higher ranked Dominion BB (#10) in Bilbao in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gipuzkoa will play at home against the league's second-placed Valencia Basket (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
