Regular Season Round 23: Mayaguez - Manati 68-85

Date: April 11, 2016
Not a big story in a game in Mayaguez where 11th ranked Indios (7-14) were defeated by seventh ranked Manati (11-10) 85-68 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Manati. Indios was better in second period 23-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for Irish-Australian center Andrew James Ogilvy (211-88, college: Vanderbilt) who led his team to a victory scoring 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Omar Alvarado (180-83) helped adding 9 points and 9 assists. Four Manati players scored in double figures. The former international point guard Filiberto Rivera (190-82, college: UTEP) responded with 7 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and American Josh Powell (206-83, college: N.Carolina St.) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Manati maintains seventh place with 11-10 record. Loser Indios stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Manati will face higher ranked Piratas (#6) in Quebradillas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Indios will play at home against Brujos (#8) and hope to win that game.
