Regular Season Round 27: Poitiers - Provence Basket 86-90

Round 27 ended with 3 & very close games. The first one was a victory of Provence Basket over 5th ranked Poitiers 90-86 on Tuesday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Poitiers. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Provence Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a good game for American forward Rick Jackson (206-89, college: Syracuse, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. American-Nigerian Derrick Obasohan (203-81, college: Texas Arlington, agency: Beo Basket) contributed with 15 points for the winners. American-British power forward Laurence Ekperigin (201-88, college: Le Moyne) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and Pierre-Yves Guillard (201-84) added 16 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) in the effort for Poitiers. Five Poitiers players scored in double figures. Poitiers' coach Rudy Nelhomme rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Provence Basket (16-11) moved-up to third place, which they share with Bourg and Le Portel. Poitiers at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 12 games lost. Provence Basket is looking forward to face SO Maritime Boulogne (#7) in Boulogne-sur-Mer in the next round. Poitiers will play on the road against Boulazac Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
