Regular Season Round 28: Asseco - Polpharma 79-70 OT

Thirteenth-ranked Polpharma (10-19) made lots of trouble for eighth ranked Asseco (16-13) in Gdynia. Asseco managed to secure only nine-point victory 79-70. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Polpharma. Polpharma was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 15-12 third quarter run of Asseco. They tied the game at the end of regular time. Then they were better in overtime eventually winning that period 17-8. Asseco forced 20 Polpharma turnovers. Polpharma was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Filip Matczak (187-93) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 4 assists. American point guard Anthony Hickey (180-92, college: Oklahoma St.) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Point guard Marcin Flieger (185-84, agency: Promotex) replied with 19 points and 4 assists and American point guard Johnny Dee (183-92, college: San Diego) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Polpharma. Asseco have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 16-13 record. Polpharma at the other side keeps the thirteenth place with 19 games lost. Asseco will play against higher ranked Energa Czarni (#5) in Slupsk in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Polpharma will play at home against MKS Start (#17) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
