Top ranked Caciques (15-8) recorded its eighth loss in San German on Wednesday night. Visitors were edged by ninth ranked Atleticos (10-14) 81-78. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Caciques. The hosts trailed by 13 points after three quarters before their 33-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was Egyptian-American center Omar Samhan (211-88, college: St.Mary's, CA) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds. Forward Benito Santiago (198, college: Cumberlands) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Brandon Costner (206-87, college: N.Carolina St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds and Dominican forward Jack Michael Martinez (201-81) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Atleticos have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain ninth position with 10-14 record, which they share with Ponce. Caciques at the other side still keep top place with eight games lost. Atleticos is looking forward to face Leones (#10) in Juana Diaz in the next round. Caciques will play on the road against Manati (#8) and are hoping to win this game.
